The Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights has become an unforgettable winter getaway for friends and families for four decades. Over the years, the Festival has continued to expand with new light displays and events. NEW “Sparkling Winter Lights” Falls Illumination
To celebrate the beauty and majesty of the winter season and mark the 40th anniversary of the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights, a new illumination light show “Sparkling Winter Lights” has been produced for Niagara Falls Tourism by the Niagara Falls Illumination Board. The display features the subtle and sometimes harsh movements inspired by winter in the north. From gentle snowfalls to the aurora borealis gliding over snowy tundra, to blizzards and the frosted falls; winter’s spectacle is exciting and magical.
The mighty American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls will come to life every evening with this tribute to the natural beauty all around us. The display is part of the regular nightly illumination of the Falls, with the five-minute lighting display playing through on the hour, at 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm each evening between November 12, 2022 and February 20, 2023.

The Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights Hot Chocolate Trail
Warm up this winter season with a hot beverage while exploring the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights. This new self-guided trail will lead you to delicious stops of chocolatey concoctions created by chocolatiers, chefs and mixologists at some of the area’s excellent restaurants and bake shops across Niagara Falls. From classic combinations with mint, orange and s’mores to inventive cocktails like a Velvet kiss or a Dirty Snowman featuring unique homemade ingredients like flavoured marshmallows and even eyeball gummies, this new trail has 17 stops with 23 unique and delicious flavours to sip and savour (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic options).
Santa Meet & Greet with a FREE PHOTO
In December, Santa returns to the Festival on select nights for photos at Queen Victoria Place in Niagara Parks.
You are invited to visit the to meet Santa Claus and get a complimentary digital photo to capture this holiday tradition. Sponsored by Ontario Power Generation

Niagara Falls Tourism wants to share in all your Winter Festival of Lights memories and you could win an overnight getaway to experience this year’s Festival. Let’s see those photos from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s!

The contest is sponsored by Niagara Falls Tourism. Open to residents of Ontario over the age of 18. Eligible entries will be accepted from September 21, 2022 to November 1, 2022. No limit on the number of photos you can post to enter the contest. By posting your photo and tagging @niagarafallstourismcanada, you give permission to Niagara Falls Tourism/Winter Festival of Lights to use your photo for marketing purposes, including use on social media, websites, digital advertising and print advertising. Niagara Falls Tourism will credit photographers where possible. This contest is in no way endorsed or sponsored by Instagram.
Prize:
One (1) eligible post will be randomly selected as the winner on November 2, 2022 and the winner will be contacted by private message on Instagram. The winner will have 48-hours to respond to the message to claim their prize. If no contact is made the winner will forfeit their prize and another randomly selected photo will chosen as the winner. This process will continue until a winner confirms the prize. The Niagara Falls overnight getaway will include one (1) night stay in a hotel room with a view of the Falls for up to four (4) guests with parking and breakfast included, dinner for up to four (4) guests at a Niagara Falls restaurant, and attraction tickets to Niagara Falls’ top experiences for up to four (4) guests. Prize must be accepted as awarded and has no cash value. Prize can be redeemed Sunday-Thursday nights from November 13, 2022 to February 16, 2023, not including holiday time periods and based on hotel availability. Transportation to/from Niagara Falls is not included and is the responsibility of the prize winner.
